Feb. 9, 2021: A Note from filmmaker Tracy Schott, founder, Voices4Change and host, Voices4ChangeRadio.com — We are going to have so much fun shining a spotlight on two truly amazing women who for years have been the powerhouses behind the Global Peace Film Festival.

Meet Kelly DeVine, Artistic Director: With the goal of turning powerful stories into community-in-action, her work at the film festival supports and amplifies Central Florida civic, faith, educational, and activist groups by curating film and media events to raise awareness and catalyze audiences.

Kelly has consulted on impact projects for award-winning documentaries such as Bully, How to Survive A Plague. Previously she had worked in acquisitions for IFCTV.

Meet Nina Streich, Executive Director: This truly amazing woman has extensive professional experience in film/television, politics — and event planning and logistics. Couple those skills with being a lifelong activist, Nina is committed to working for a better, more peaceful world.

Since 2003, she has been the Executive Director of the Global Peace Film Festival. “I was hired to create a film event — and I didn’t even know the local area code,” Nina shares. “But in the years since, I have helped turn into a collaboration with the local community, using the arts — particularly film — to inspire positive social, cultural, and personal change.”

Nina’s professional career highlights include:

  • Cutting trailers for over 50 major studio and independent feature films
  • Producing documentaries, serving as Deputy Commissioner of the NYC Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting
  • Managing the Newport International Film Festival
  • And creating and running the Global Peace Film Festival since 2003

Her festival highlights include:

  • Developing the K-12 student peace art exhibit through Orange County (FL) Public Schools
  • The opportunity to work on international festivals in Japan, Korea, Israel and Jordan, and Nepal

About the show: With the goal of ending intimate partner violence, Tracy’s documentary “Finding Jenn’s Voice,” brought to light the horrifying fact that one of the leading causes of death during pregnancy is homicide. Determined to stop the international devastation, the Pennsylvania-based entrepreneur has launched a weekly podcast/video series to shine a light on the survivors and experts around the world who are working toward the same goal.

Our guests: Statistics tell us that one in three women will be the victim of intimate partner violence. From teens to the brave women and men who survived domestic violence, you’ll meet them, the researchers, the providers, and the experts who are working to end this premeditated crime.
