Meet the Author: Emil Buchman was born in the Galaxy Far, Far Away (aka, Baku, Azerbaijan) and came to the United States in the early 1990s. Currently, he lives in Brooklyn, New York with his beautiful wife and adorable wheaten terrier Chloe.

Emil is a practicing transactional lawyer, structuring and documenting complex debt instruments but, by his own admission, this is a boring part of his life. When he is not practicing, Emil enjoys reading and watching classics, history, fantasy, and sci-fi books, and movies and, when he has nothing worthy to read or watch, he writes on his own.

About the Book: When a recently deceased soul is offered a chance to escape Oblivion, he must locate the lost Book of Remedies—an ancient text of miraculous healing power—before Demons use it to turn Earth into Hell.

When a nameless soul with no memory of his past steps into this surreal afterlife, the Heavenly Department of Justice offers him a deal: go on a mission to expose Satanists and idolaters on Earth. Success will earn him a coveted ticket to Heaven. Failure means eternal Oblivion.

“Redemption Post Mortem,” by Emil Buchman

It sounds like a win-win: one mission, eternal salvation. Or is it?

For his first—supposedly simple—assignment, the Heavenly Department of Health equips him with a flawless body and sends him to stop a demonic ritual. He succeeds and in the process saves the intended human sacrifice, Nora, a beautiful and mysterious woman who sparks feelings he can’t identify or understand. To his misfortune, our hero finds fragments at the ritual site from the long-lost Book of Remedies, a powerful artifact Demons could claim to reshape the world in Hell’s image.

Just as he was so close to Heaven, his mission takes an unexpected turn—he must now find the Book of Remediesbefore the Demons do and destroy it. Battling both mortal and supernatural foes through desert war zones where loyalties shift like sand, he faces treachery, betrayal, and temptation—especially when fate reunites him with Nora, who joins him on his quest… and in his bed. And just when he thinks he’s earned redemption, he discovers his “final” mission is only the beginning.

Strap in for a supernatural thrill ride as John Constantine meets Indiana Jones on a globe-trotting quest spanning physical and spiritual planes in a hunt for a dangerous artifact sought by Angels, Demons, and humans alike. Fans of James Rollins and high-stakes urban fantasy will love this romantic, action-packed adventure.

About Elaine’s Restaurant:  A menu filled with delicious modern Mediterranean cuisine selections is sure to please everyone in your party. The dishes are inspired by exquisite food from Alexandria, Egypt — a blend of Middle Eastern and French, Greek, and Italian influences. Elaine’s is named for the owner’s grandmother and is based on a promise she made at the age of 12, growing up in Cairo. “I promised my grandma I would someday own a restaurant and name it after her,” shares Cynthia, who is also an author. She and her husband, bestselling thriller novelist Jeffrey James Higgins, are proud to share my family’s recipes with new friends and families in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.” Located in an 1880s building, it was the previous home for 38 years of the beloved bistro Bilbo Baggins. The newly renovated restaurant is located in the heart of Old Town’s Historic District within sight of the Potomac River and Founders Park, just a few blocks from The Torpedo Factory Art Center, and Old Town Alexandria Waterfront.
