Meet Truly Amazing Woman Juli Briskman — the cyclist who flashed her middle finger in 2016 at Trump’s motorcade. Here's what happened next
I bet you’ve heard of Juli Briskman, the cyclist who flashed her middle finger at President Trump’s motorcade in 2016. The seasoned marketing expert lost her job at a government-contracting firm as a result — and in another act of courage is parlaying her show of resistance into action.
The 51-year-old marketing executive is now running for political office. Talk about a truly amazing badass Inkandescent Woman!
I’m Hope Katz Gibbs, your host of Inkandescent Women TV — thrilled to be here in Northern Virginia interviewing Juli!
In this video you’ll learn about the moment that seems to have changed the trajectory of Juli’s life – the day she was riding her bike near President Donald Trump’s golf course in Loudoun County, VA when his motorcade rode by:
- Did she know that she was making history, and potentially could get fired, in that instant?
- What happened when she returned to work? And what happened in the weeks and years that have followed?
- What made her decide to run for office to challenge Rep. Barbara Comstock ® in November 2019 for a seat on the Board of Supervisors?
- In addition to talking about the importance of freedom of speech, we learn about some of the feedback she’s gotten about respecting the president. And, we learn about the issues her district is facing.
- How does this single mom of two teens envision her life in the decades to come?

“We have a right to peacefully protest and criticize and express dissent toward our government,” Juli told The Washington Post after declaring her candidacy.
“I’ve gotten some feedback that folks say you should respect the president. Even if you don’t like what they’re doing, you shouldn’t show this sort of disdain. And I simply disagree, and I think the Constitution grants me that privilege.”
Would she do it again? “Probably,” she said, noting democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton won Loudoun County with 55 percent of the vote in 2016, and the following year Ralph Northam (D) expanded her margin, winning 59 percent of the vote in Loudoun on his way to becoming governor.
